I Sang at the O2 with Rock Choir

Yes, I really did perform at the O2.

I was one of 12,000 people singing and dancing on Saturday evening at the O2 Arena in London.

I joined the Milton Keynes Rock Choir last year after a taster session at Blog it for Babies in St Albans organised by Actually Mummy (who was also at the O2). We rehearse each week in term time. I have made some wonderful friends. We sing, we dance, we laugh, we chat and we socialise.

WE ROCK.

On Saturday it was Rock Choir Live.

There is nothing quite like singing with 12,000 people in a choir. You get goosebumps, your eyes leak and your hands hurt from clapping.

The highlights for me were Something Inside So Strong, Walking on Broken Glass, Anytime You Need a Friend, Livin' on a Prayer, Where You Lead and Does Your Mother Know?

Here is just a taste of what it was like.

I also got to take part in an impromptu flash mob outside the O2 after the performance. Two words: utter joy.

The coach trip back to MK was memorable as one of my fellow Rockies, Tim, took the place of our choir leader, Lottie, and conducted a sing-song all the way up the M1. When was the last time you heard 73 adults singing The Wheels on the Bus? Exactly. Hilarity ensued...

I'm looking forward to September where there's a rumour we'll be learning I Believe in a Thing Called Love. Rock on.

  2. Wow, looks ace! I'm so jealous - I saw some people wearing Rock Choir t-shirts walking through Liverpool last week and my daughter asked what it was about. When I told her, she said "you should join, you're always singing"...but not very well unfortunately :)

Glad you had a good time Sandy xx

    1. @Jean, yes, there was an event at the Liverpool Echo Arena too. You should join, you don't need to be able to sing, you just have to want to sing. There's a teen Rock Choir too... x

  3. "Oh Oh Livin' On a Prayer!" That looks AMAZING! I so want to do Rock Choir but I can't get out in the evenings so it will have to wait. Keep singing xx

    1. @Damson Lane, what a shame you can't make it to Rock Choir. My choir went out last night and did karaoke. After we all sang 'You're the Voice' a random bloke came over, clapping and said 'that was f***ing brilliant'. Praise indeed :) x

  5. Small world, because I live in MK and also joined rock choir last term (soprano), although I joined too late to go to 02. I am new to mummy blogging. Your blog is really good, would love some tips.
    Thanks
    Kat

    1. Hi Kat, it is a small world. Are you at the early or late choir? I'm usually at the late one and sit near the back of the lower altos. Do come and say hello in September, we can chat about blogging then :)
