My boys are sports mad. Their first love is football, but they enjoy being active and will give anything a go. They watch all the sport on television (given half a chance). Their favourite lesson at school is PE, so when they were asked to try LTA Mini Tennis they jumped at the chance.

What is mini-tennis?

Mini Tennis is the perfect introduction to the world of tennis for children between 3 and 10 years old. The tailored approach enables children to develop vital tennis skills and techniques at an early stage, and with all the fun and energy of the real thing. There are four stages of Mini Tennis; Tots, Red, Orange and Green, each with their own court size and type of ball.

LTA Mini Tennis Tots is for children aged 3 to 5 years old and enables them to learn the basics through a series of fun activities, based on the fundamental areas of balance, co-ordination, agility, movement and racket and ball skills. Tots play with sponge balls and 17 or 19 inch rackets.

LTA Mini Tennis Red is for players aged 8 and under and is played on small courts with mini tennis rackets and red soft balls. Within a modified space and with safer equipment, it’s just like the real game, and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

LTA Mini Tennis Orange is a progression from Mini Tennis Red, and is for players aged 8 and 9. The courts are bigger and wider than red courts, but still smaller than a full size court, and allow players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

LTA Mini Tennis Green is a progression from Mini Tennis Orange, and is for players aged 9 and 10. The court is full size but played with green balls that are 25% slower than a yellow ball. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.

Along the way, players can also earn their stripes with the LTA Mini Tennis Rally Awards. There are different levels at each stage of Mini Tennis and each level covers four different skills: Rally, Serve, Come to the Net and Score and Compete. Coaches and parents can take advantage of personalised promotional materials, awards, merchandise, equipment and clothing via the Mini Tennis Shop and www.mytennistoolkit.com.

In addition, Mini Red and Mini Orange are both great tools to adapt tennis to suit a range of disabilities.

So what did Presley and Cash make of their first tennis lesson?

They loved it. We were made to feel very welcome. There were eight children in the session, some had been going for a while and others were new. They started with a warm up and then moved on to learning the four stages of backhand, before playing games using a net.

The boys were able play the games well and remembered the four stages of backhand - and put them into play. They were engaged for the entire hour and thoroughly enjoyed elarning new skills.

CONGRATULATIONS!

I was reliably informed - by a 4 year old - that this is not Peppa Pig. It is, in fact, Peppa's friend, Suzy Sheep. Suitable chastised, I shuffled over to have my photograph taken with her (as you do).

My family and I were invited to Paulton's Park, the home of Peppa Pig World, to review the latest official Peppa Pig merchandise. Several other bloggers were also there. Our children tore through the toys, gifts and clothes like a tornado. Pieces of jigsaw puzzle were scattered around the room. The children looked like they were competing to see who could carry the most soft toys. After our rigorous testing, we spent the rest of the day at Paulton's Park.


My Top Tips for visiting Peppa Pig World and Paulton's Park

• Get there early, the park opens at 10am. Be parked and at the gate by 10. 
• Go to Peppa Pig World first as the queues will quickly build up throughout the day
• There are loads of rides suitable for younger children in the rest of Paulton's Park. These rides have tiny queues. There are also animals and play areas, including a splash park.  
• Leave before the park closes. You do not want to get caught in a traffic jam just trying to get out of the car park.

I'll admit it now, I mostly drink decaf instant coffee.

I was offered a new baby product to review and I was happy to try out the award winning Flexibath.

It's a new cool design for a baby bath and comes in a range of funky colours. It retails for £29.95 and the stockists are listed on the above website.

The plus points:

• It folds up flat - you could even take it on holiday in your suitcase!
• It's made from BPA-free plastic
• By not filling the tub you're saving water
• It has a plug to empty it (although it was just as easy to pour the water out into the tub!)
• The colour range is superb
• It's non-slip
• It's suitable from birth to age four
• Once it is no longer being used as a bath it would make a handy toy-box, laundry basket or could be used for water play in the garden

Our test:

• You can fit two children in, but ours decided to go all Greta Garbo on us and bathe alone. I think they felt a little cramped, but then again they are nearly three and nearly two.
• It's simple to fold and unfold
• It's robust
• It totally does the job
• I wish this had been on the market three years ago!

The downside:

• It's fairly heavy, so although it would fit in a suitcase it would use up a fair amount of your baggage allowance if you were flying.

Our verdict:

• Love it!
• We'll be taking it on holiday with us (if we ever pluck up the courage to go on holiday)!!

Save The Lullaby and a Giveaway

Do you know all of the words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star or Rock a Bye Baby? Or are you more likely to sing Lady Gaga or the theme from Friends to your little ones? Do you sing to your children at all?

I love singing anyway and have always found that I can calm (or distract) a complaining, grumpy or crying toddler by singing. We've had some strange looks in the supermarket! Music is important to me, although we rarely listen to it during the daytime. I find it competes with my noisy boys and loses. We sing together most days, mostly nursery rhymes, with the odd random tune thrown in - whatever is running around my mind that day.

I was delighted to hear that Sophie Barker (from the wonderful Zero 7) and producer KK (Eno, Dido, Bjork) have put together a campaign to save the lullaby. They have produced a delightful CD of 18 night-time songs.

I was sent a review copy of the CD. The second my CD player whirred into action the boys ran over. We settled on the sofa, snuggled together and listened to the beautiful, calming songs. They relaxed instantly. The CD is lovely and soothing. It gets the Baby Baby two thumbs up rating (I'll make a Baby Baby two thumbs up badge one day)!

Being Selfish AND a Giveaway?!

When I was asked if I would like to be part of the Radox Be Selfish campaign I thought it sounded great. (Thanks to Kim Hong at Fleishman Hillard PR). Some Radox bubble bath and a water resistant Kathy Lette book. Lovely.

I thought, I can have some much needed ME time. It wasn't that simple though.

I know I should put myself first more often, but when you're a mum your children come first. For me it's as simple as that. During the day I try to stay away from my laptop. It's all too easy to be distracted by Twitter or Facebook or by reading blogs. My boys won't be small for long and they need my attention now. CBeebies is a good babysitter if I need to get some housework done, but it's no substitute for playing with mummy. It's certainly not as good as sitting in the leg seat (on my lap) and reading a book or sixteen!

Writing this blog is something I do just for me. I also do a bit of songwriting and I have recently started writing short stories. I do this when the boys are asleep. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to be at home when they both have an afternoon nap - at the same time. Otherwise I play on the laptop at night. I can't do this every night as I also like to spend some time with my husband!

So for me to have a luxurious, selfish bubble bath in the evening (instead of a speed-shower) would be taking me away from either chatting to Andy or doing a bit of writing. After a few weeks of staring at the Radox and 'All Steamed Up' by Kathy Lette I decided to 'take the plunge'. Sorry!

My bath was far too hot, but I laid back and started reading. I think Kathy Lette is great. Her books are fabulous, she has a brilliant turn of phrase. Her sound-bites on BBC Breakfast are good fun too. This water resistant book is short and bitter-sweet. I'm really enjoying it. I laughed out loud when she described the protagonist's neighbour as someone who sun-dries their own tomatoes. Oh dear, that's me!

Being Selfish AND a Giveaway?!

High Chair High Jinks!

We've had a busy weekend. We took the boys to see their Grandma and Grandad yesterday.

Presley loves it there. He is the fifth grandchild (Cash is the eighth), so there are plenty of exciting new toys to play with. He spent most of the day pushing a bus around and around and around. His Grandad also took him round the garden. Presley had his Thomas The Tank Engine Wellies on but that didn't stop him getting soaked. We had to dry his trousers on the oven door!

I usually give Cash some food before we have our lunch, then leave him strapped in his car seat playing with some toys while we eat. Yesterday I thought I'd try something new and have both the boys sitting at the table. Andy's parents have a plastic booster seat and we took our portable booster seat. We've used both seats before without incident.

Today there were incidents.

Firstly Cash must have pushed against the table with his feet. The chair started to fall backwards. Luckily I had peripheral vision and lightning fast reactions. I caught his arm and stopped him falling. I moved the chair and wrapped my foot around the leg!

A few minutes later I watched in horror as Presley fell ..... in ..... slow ..... motion. He must have been leaning over sideways and the chair fell away from the table and landed on its side. Luckily Presley was still strapped into the booster seat, hanging upside down. He started to cry. He wasn't hurt, it was just the shock of it. His Grandma lifted the chair up as I lifted him up. His Grandma wrapped her foot around his chair leg!

My nerves must be bad. I didn't stop shaking for five minutes, I thought I was going to be ill. I know neither of them was hurt, but it didn't stop me thinking what if?

After lunch I took Cash for a walk to get him to sleep. I'd been out for half an hour. He was too busy watching the world go by to go to sleep. I wheeled him back and left the pushchair outside the back door. Cash then went to sleep, he must have been bored looking at the wheelie bins!

Andy and his Dad were in the garden so I went inside to read the paper. Luxury! A little while later I realised everyone was inside the house and the back door was shut. I ran to check on Cash. Of course he was still there and still fast asleep. I panicked, again thinking what if?

Perhaps I need to chill out.

Today was busy too. I spent most of the day cleaning, dusting, vacuuming and tidying. My Mum arrives on Wednesday and is staying for a month. I don't want her to think we live in a s***hole!!! I may have to cut down on my social media addiction while she is here, although I'm sure I'll be able to write the odd post!
