I've seen them do this and they sort of pant at the same time don't they? I've only seen blackbirds do it so whether it's peculiar to that species or not I don't know. Quite funny though! (which is clearly why you've posted it!)

Aah, I rescued a bird like this that fell out of a tree. I nursed it back to health, taught it to fly again. And then it died.
